Punsalmaagiin Ochirbat

Punsalmaagiin Ochirbat (Mongolian: Пунсалмаагийн Очирбат; born 1942) was a Mongolian political figure. He served as the president of Mongolia from 1990 to 1997, the first one elected by direct popular vote.
Ochirbat is a doctor in the fields of economy and technology, with expertise in geology.
In the beginning of his career he was a communist, and for the first part of his presidency, he was still a member of tbe Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party. But he won the reelection of 1993 as a converted member of the Mongolian National Democratic Party.
