Punky Brüster is a parody punk rock and Grindcore band project formed by Devin Townsend and Adrian White, with musical help from members of his other projects. (The band's name is a pun on the 80's U.S. television series Punky Brewster.) The project's sole album, Cooked On Phonics (a pun of the literacy program "Hooked on Phonics"), is a critical parody of musicians who radically change from their developing sound to a mainstream, formulaic, and popular style for the purpose of selling out, specifically to mainstream punk rock.

Every person performing in the band used aliases. The main members had two aliases, the first as a Punky Brüster member, and the second as a Cryptic Coroner member:

Devin Townsend:
- Dr. Skinny - Lead Vocals and Guitar
- Lord Stenchlor - Brustal sword of Baphonet's greasy spoon
John Randahl Harder:
- Squid Vicious - Bass and Vocals
- Jokor, King Of The Orcs - Battering old containers of poop strewn from the bowels of pure nasty Hell
Adrian White:

- Underwator - rotting corpse sucker from the world beyond the one before the last one
