[edit] History
In November 2000 Craig Media was awarded a license by the CRTC for a specialty service called Music 5 that would consist of five separate music video channels focused on a specific musical genre; dance, pop, urban, RnB and Hot Hits.
Before the channels launched Craig Media reached an agreement with Viacom and in October 2001 launched only one of the five channels; that channel being devoted to "Pop" [1] as MTV2. MTV2 was a free-form music video channel that aired music videos from various artists from different genres.
On December 1, 2004; Craig Media was sold to CHUM Limited, prompting Viacom to exercise its right to cancel its agreement with Craig Media if any change of control were to happen. Thus, CHUM later rebranded the channel PunchMuch on June 30, 2005 adding its new interactive features.
