Puerto Suárez

Puerto Suarez is an important inland river port and municipality in Bolivia near the border with Brazil. It is located in the province of Germán Busch, Santa Cruz Department. Situated by the Laguna Cáceres which leds to the Tamengo Canal and the important Paraguay/Paraná waterway. Population was 20,103 (2001). It was founded in November 10. 1875 by Miguel Suarez Arana. Municipality contains major roads and rail-links to the rest of Bolivia and to Brazil. They also have an airport. Puerto Suarez is a free trade zone.
