PTgui

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

PTgui is a Windows and Mac OS X panorama photo stitching program developed by New House Internet Services BV. PTgui started as a GUI frontend to Helmut Dersch's Panorama Tools. It currently features its own stitching and blending engine along with compatibility with the original Panorama Tools.

Stitching is accomplished by using several overlapping photos taken from the same location, and using control points to align and transform the photos so that they can be blended together to form a larger image. PTgui has its own control point generator, one of the first to properly support fish eye lenses. Once the control points between each pair of overlapping images are set, PTgui optimizes their relative position to prepare for a seamless stitch. This can be previewed before the actual rendering of the panorama, that is later saved in a standard image format.

Its latest version, 6, appeared in September 2006. The most significant new development in this release is the addition of support for Mac OS X.
