Pterri (Pee-wee's Playhouse)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pterri is a character on Pee-wee's Playhouse. He is a green pterodactyl and one of Pee-wee's closest friends on the shows. He usually acted in the manner of a typical child, just like another playhouse denizen, Globey, with whom he would usually hang out. He has a phobia to thunderstorms and is very sensitive. He is sometimes called a baby, especially by Randy the bully, who usually picks on him.

[edit] Appearances

Pterri appears in most episodes of Playhouse. In one episode, Pee-wee scolds him for being naughty and he is so distraught for what he has done that Randy suggests that he run away. Everyone is worried that he is gone, but he was really hiding under the bed the whole time. In the first season, he was voiced by John Paragon (born December 9, 1954), who also portrayed Jambi, while in the second season, he was voiced by George McGrath, the voice of Globey. Finally, from the third season onward, he was again voiced by Paragon. On The Pee-Wee Herman Show, Pterri worked for Captain Carl as a sort of "talking parrot" element. On that show, he was also voiced by Paragon.
