From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
You can find me on http://www.userfriendly.org as PsiXi. I was previously on Wikipedia as Psi but I have since added another greek letter, as single greek letters tend to already be taken. I can be found on AIM as Elektronikwizard. If it's out there, I probably dabble in it. A list of things in which I have more expertise than others:
- Mathematics in general. Love it. I'm no expert in any subfield of mathematics, but I can explain many fields and subfields of mathematics at an introductory level. I hope someday to become a major contributor to the math section of Wikipedia.
- Computer Science, a branch, in my opinion, of Mathematics. Particular interests include:
- Automata Theory
- Abstract Algorithms
- Abstract computational models
- Computer Programming, related but not part of computer science. Inluding:
- Digital photography. I sell my pictures on the side and I use a Minolta DiMage A2, 8 megapixels. (I know this is quickly being obseleted by Fuji's 12 MP cameras. Darn you, Fuji!)
- Readin' and Writin'
- I do some writing, but it's mostly technical and certainly not saleble fiction. I do, however, pride myself as good at writing in general. (With my luck there's a grammar mistake somewhere on this very page, though).
- I like science fiction, and fantasy to a degree.
- As a totally disparate favorite genre, I like pre-1970 math textbooks.
- Design
- I love Japanese art and architecture. I have a large copy of The Great Wave hanging in my bedroom. Someday I will have a combined modern-traditional Japanese house in a waterfront suburb of Yokohama. (...yeah, right.)
- I do some Web design type stuff but only for my own purposes.
- I enjoy designing documents and posters.
- I can draw highly detailed perspective diagrams with the help of XFig (an ancient X Windows graphics program), for whatever that's worth (Not much, I assure you).
- I'm also a closet philosopher. Suffice it to say that I have really weird ideas sometimes and I call it "philosophy".
- Music. I can't read sheet music, which is a major problem, but I can improvise fairly well on:
- I know I'm forgetting something.
Contact me if you have similar interests. I don't have as much time as I would like to Wiki but I'll do what I can.
