Request for Adminship
Congratulations! Consensus having been reached, it is my pleasure to inform you that you are now an administrator on the English Wikipedia. Please take a moment to review the Administrators' reading list and the Administrators' how-to guide before using any of your shiny new buttons. :-) If you need assistance or advice, please feel free to request help from other administrators at the Administrator's Noticeboard and Administrator's Noticeboard for Incidents, or to leave a talk page message for me or any other admin. User:Swatjester is patronising vandals and trolls
Pschemp: I was watching the RC patrol on IRC. saw Anwar saadat has blanked someone elses user page citing "they gave themselves barn-stars". Well as far as I know, that's not against policy: they can do what they want with it. But it IS agaisnt policy to blank other people's user pages. So, I gave him a warning. A few seconds later I saw that he'd done it to a second user page. I gave a second warning. I explained myself the first time. For some reason unbeknownst to me, saadat copy and pasted the whole conversation onto my talk.( Apparently because I "didn't respond" despite my explanations). Do with it what you will, but thought you should be aware of what happened. I'm in the IRC cvu channel if you'd like. ⇒ SWATJester Ready Aim Fire! 10:08, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
- Go see the history of both Prin and Man's Plans. They are one and the same. The same bloke from London uses an alias. He has been vandalising and extreme trolling on my user page and article on Ajith and creating fake articles about fictional entities. Ignorance is not an excuse. You have clearly abused your powers by threatening to block me when I tried to rectify their graffiti. Self-awarded barnstars are not acceptable. What kinda moderator are you? Anwar saadat 10:22, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
- (a) It doesn't matter if they're vandals. You don't have the right to blank their user page. (B) I don't know of any wikipedia policy about self-awarded barnstars. Would you like to show me one saying they're unacceptable? (C) I'm not a moderator at all. Hence, I could not have abused my powers. (D) deleting the warnings from your talk page is considered vandalism. (E) Why are we talking about this on Pschemps page? ⇒ SWATJester Ready Aim Fire! 10:25, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
- (a) If it doesn't matter whether the suer is a vandal or editor in good faith, then there is no point in arguing with you. (b) As I said earlier, ignorance is not an excuse. You are not fit to advise others on proper conduct (c)(d) Well, you deleted my edits from your user page. Is that not vandalism? (e) Bcoz she is admin. You are not. And you are under scrutiny now for patronising vandals and trolls and threatening/bullying to block users Anwar saadat 10:32, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

- As amusing as this is, I don't want to disrupt Pschemps page any more. You've been warned again not to blank your warnings from your talk. The next time, you will lose your ability to edit your talk page. I won't be responding on this page anymore. If you want, you can respond on your own talk page. Pschemp, the situation isn't that difficult to figure out. Essjay and I are monitoring him from IRC. ⇒ SWATJester Ready Aim Fire! 10:35, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

Rory block
Thanks once more for offering a lucid, reasoned explanation for this block; even as I am not, as I explained to Essjay, altogether certain that I would have blocked, even in view of Essjay's warning, I am altogether convinced that the justifications given were sufficient to support a block and that Essjay wasn't simply affecting a new 'crat arrogance, as otherwise I might have feared (although, inasmuch as my past encounters with Essjay and with you have been uniformly positive, I suppose those fears were unfounded in any case). :) Joe 17:46, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

Please unblock Netscott
The content of the link aside, Netscott was clearly acting in good faith re the WP:3RR, and quit reverting when he thought he'd run out. Further, he did discuss his changes on the talk page. It is rather Anonymous editor who declined discussion. Netscott should be unblocked.Timothy Usher 04:39, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
- The link he re-inserted 4 times was and is clearly offensive. Regardless, he did revert 4 times in less than 24 hours, whatever the intention. Next time he can be more careful. No unblock. pschemp | talk 04:44, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
- I've unblocked him on the condition that he not edit the page for 24 hours. If he does, I will reblock. If the circumstances do not improve on that article, however, I am likely to recommend an RfC or RfAr. Kelly Martin (talk) 04:57, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

- He approached me on IRC and asked for assistance. It's believable to me, given the edit summaries and such, that he was "debating via reverts", which, while kinda dumb, is not really edit warring. Geotextiles
You removed a redirect I made from Geotextiles to Geosynthetics, I feel that the Geotextile article is of poor quality and misleading. You state your reason for removing the redirect "redirect inappropriate, not all geotextiles are synthetics. many are made of natural fibers," true some are made of natural fibres but the vast majority aren't. However regardless of their composistion they are still referred to as Geosynthetics by industry and academia alike, the article should refelct this (although I will make a point of fibrous geotextiles in the Geosynthetic article). On a seperate note the Geotextile article doesn't even mention any materials used for Geotextiles, synthetic or fibrous. I think the Geotextile article should be redirected/completely rewritten for a few reasons:
- It mentions very little about Geotextiles, 2 lines at most; not even that they are usually manufarctured as woven or non-woven or any of their constituent materials.
- The inclusion of Geomembranes and Geonets is unwarranted as they are not geotextiles. This could easily confuse lay readers
- No pictures
- It mentions their applications but doesn't elaborate
- Not wikified
Overall if you removed anything that wasn't to do with geotextiles from the article it would be about 4 lines long and would then certainly warrant a redirect.
I hope to bring the standard of the Geosynthetic/Geotextile/Geonet etc. articles up from stubs and I hope by grouping the article together under their industry wide recognised title of Geosynthetics that the article will be more than a stub and allow the lay reader to achieve a wider appreceation of the subject. Also I hope collaboration will be stimulated by a larger grouped article than smaller stubs. I shall add the point about fibrous materials to the Geosynthetics article but I shall not redirect the Geotextile article unless we can agree on its necessity, I have no wish to enter into a heated edit war and such.
Regards Grahams Child 09:20, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
- I was taught that Geotextiles was the umbrella term. I suspect that we are hitting a difference in international terminology here. I agree the article is crap, but I really don't think its appropriate to put everything under Geosynthetics. However, I'm confident we can work it out. pschemp | talk 11:58, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
-
- I think you may be correct there, I'm writing from the sunny shores of England and yourself from the US? Geotextiles is a term often used here to describe products that are not (as far as we know in Engand ;)) geotextiles; as the current geotextiles article shows only too well. Perhaps this confusion of terms warrants a paragrapgh in the article?
- Do you think there is a case for merging the two articles under a new title; such as Geosynthetics/Geotextiles or Geosynthetics & Geotextiles etc? Also as your qualifications allow you, would you lay a critical eye over my Geosynthetics article as it is pretty fresh off the workbench and could do with some scrutiny, especially form non lay editors. I am from an engineering background so your Textile/Chemical background should give a different perspective on the article.
- Hope we can bring these articles up to where they should be. Regards Grahams Child 13:25, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

List of NHL players
You deleted all the player lists before a discussion could even take place. It is not an attempt at googlebombing or anything like that. There was a link to hockeydb.com because hockeydb.com has a list of all the stats and it was used as a reference to each player, which helps keep out vanity articles (which people like to do). Having the link beside each player also makes creating their article much easier. If you had problems with the articles, then they should be fixed, not deleted. Masterhatch 07:21, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
