Psalm 91 (Greek numbering: Psalm 90), referred to by its Latin title Qui habitat (after its first line, "Whoso dwelleth under the defence of the Most High"), is known as the Psalm of Protection, and it is often sung or recited during services of Compline. It is also used in the prayers of the Sixth Hour in Eastern Orthodoxy.
As a religious text, this Psalm is commonly invoked in times of hardship, and thus is often quoted in works of popular fiction. It is customary for certain Jews to recite it before bed and is included in the Shabbat morning service prayers. It was also traditionally used in the night office of Compline, in Catholic and "high church" Protestant circles, especially on Sundays and feast days. The psalm carries on the themes set in psalm 90.
