[edit] anime section intro

What is the point of the first paragraph in the article's anime section? I'm for it to be removed as its unrrelated to Oak, and if people wanted an overview of the anime in general then they can just check out its page. Tphi 10:55, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

That's WP:PCP's article style. If you wanna discuss it, use the Project Talk Page. ;) Cheers, The Raven's Apprentice (Talk|Contribs) 13:59, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Isn't he worth a mention here? Goroliath

I'd say he is, under a tcg section. But just hang on while I try to secure the help of a tcg expert from the Project. Cheers, The Raven's Apprentice (Talk|Contribs) 03:34, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
A very minor mention. All cards refering to him have been rotated out of the common format for at least 5 years. Very few players even remember what these cards do. Spinach Dip 17:39, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
I'm not an expert of the Pokemon TCG, but the "Professor Oak" card (where you discard your hand then pick up 7 cards) strikes me as a very powerful card. It's not on the banned list at Pokémon_Trading_Card_Game?? I wonder if there's a better 'banned list'? RevJohn 12:36, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Name change

Why has this been changed to "Samuel Oak"? In all but the rarest of occaisons is he called anything other than "Professor Oak" :S Tphi 01:10, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

According to Cool Cat (talk contribs), "his full name is Samuel Oak and honorific titles are dropped out of article titles per WP:NAME". --The Raven's Apprentice(Profile|PokéNav|Trainer Card) 13:13, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
Actually, cancel that. This is a case for ignoring all rules. As you say, he's never referred to anything except "Professor Oak", even the games call him that. In fact, he's never even given a first name in the games. In short, this gets moved back. Cheers, The Raven's Apprentice(Profile|PokéNav|Trainer Card) 16:34, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Actually, in Pokemon 4EVER, it's hinted that Sammy WAS Professor Oak, and in the dub it was painfully obvious. So yes, Professor Oak's name in the anime would be Samuel. Also, does anyone else think that the past events of Pokemon 4EVER that include Oak should be mentioned in the anime section? (EDIT: Nevermind, hadn't read it all ^_^;) BabySinclair 20:26, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
