There is some evidence, chiefly from coins, that Probus may have not been born at Sirmium but at Siscia instead. HA alleges "Probus oriundus e Pannonia, civitate Sirmiensi" but that is the only source for Sirmium as birthplace. Coins maybe suggesting an alternative -> SISCIA PROBI AVG (RIC 764-766) and ORIGINI AVG (Origins of the Emperor) (RIC 701-703). The latter especially suggests Siscia, as ORIGINI is an unique type struck only at that mint city, and exclusively for Probus.

Probus should also include the Abbot serving under Pope Gregory (c. 600) that established medical assistance in Jerusalem for the "Christian" pilgrims that traveled there. Stevenmitchell 00:56, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
