Provincial Highway No. 61 is usually known as West Coast Expressway. There are several sections open for the traffic. Others are still under construction.

As of February 2006, the following sections have been completed.
- Linkou, Taipei - Dayuan, Taoyuan: 12 km
- Fongbi Tunnel - Fongshan River Bridge (all in Sinfong, Hsinchu)
- Jinshuei Bridge (in Siangshan, Hsinchu) - Baishatun (in Tongsiao, Miaoli): 37 km
- County Highway No. 140 (in Yuanli, Miaoli) - Yuanlin Dapai (in Fusing, Changhua): 51 km
- West Coast Bridge (in Dachang, Changhua) - Houanliao (in Mailiao, Yunlin)
- Huzihnei (in Mailiao, Yunlin) - Wutiaogang (in Taisi, Yunlin): 5 km
- Kouhu, Yuanlin - Baishueihu (in Dongshih, Chiayi): 19 km
- Budai, Chiayi - Beimen, Tainan: 11 km

The first portion of the expressway was between Siangshan, Hsinchu and Baishantun. It was used to connect the northern section National Highway No. 3 at Siangshan IC.
