Tajikistan is divided into 3 provinces (Tajik: Вилоят, viloyat, plural: Вилоятҳо, viloyatho) and one autonomous province (viloyati mukhtor). Additionally, Dushanbe, the capital city, is independent of viloyat-level administrative divisions.

Each region is divided into districts (raion or nohija), which are further subdivided into Jamoats, and then villages.
