[edit] Plot synopsis
Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.
A young couple is murdered in their home shortly after buying an antique painting of a family portrait circa 1910. Upon reviewing the painting's provenance, Sam and Dean Winchester learn that everyone who has ever bought the painting has been murdered, and they race to discover how the portrait is causing the deaths before it can claim its next victim.
Spoilers end here.
[edit] Production notes
- A shot of a car bearing the vanity licence plate "THE KRIP" in the episode is a shout-out to show writer, executive producer, and creator Eric Kripke.[citation needed]
- When Sam, Dean and Sarah go back into Evelyn's house, Dean is comparing a printout of the painting with the real one and mistakenly says, "Jared, check it out" rather than, "Sam, check it out" (the name of Jared Padalecki's character).
- This episode shares it's title with a ninth season episode of The X Files. Several of the writers/producers of The X Files now work on Supernatural.
[edit] Featured music
- Bad Time - Grand Funk Railroad
- Night Time - Steve Carlson Band
