Proud FM will be a commercial radio station in the United Kingdom. The station was awarded a licence to service the Preston, Leyland and Chorley conurbation on December 7, 2006 and proposed to be on air 9 months after this date.
The station is promising to broadcast a wide variety of popular music, particularly songs that fall under the mainstream rock genres, from the 1960s to the present day. The station is being managed by Paul Jordan who has presented the breakfast show on Rock FM in the 1990s, and is owned by UTV Radio who operate neighbouring stations Radio Wave 96.5 in Blackpool, Wish FM in Wigan & St Helens and Wire FM in Warrington, Widnes & Runcorn.
They are planning on broadcasting from two sites - Preston Guildhall on 106.5FM and Charnock Richard on 96.3FM, both at 200Watts Mixed Polarisation.
