Proton Torpedo, formerly known as Triple D Industry, is an Australian band formed in 1998 by school students with some extra time on their hands. Since then they have recorded 3 albums and made their debut at Kick Start in front of over 10,000 people. For about six years, from 1999 through 2005, the band was one of the most popular and influential rock groups in the Sydney area, their music embraced by critics (and to a somewhat lesser degree by the public) as seriously as the music of Pink Floyd and the Righteous Brothers. Their albums were analyzed and reviewed as intensely as any records by their one-time employer and sometime mentor Alpha Cordo. For a long time, their personalities were as recognizable individually to the casual music public in Sydney's Northern Beaches as the members of the Jet.

Since then many of the members have split up, and gone their separate ways. None have yet continued a music/performance career but time will tell as the members are finishing studies and looking to retreat back to the fame and popularity they once had.
