Proton Sponge
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Proton Sponge is a trademark assigned to Aldrich Chemical Company for 1,8-Bis(dimethylamino)naphthalene. The word has come to be used generically to refer to other sterically congested diamine and guanidine bases that display an unusually high basicity due to strain relief upon protonation.
