[edit] Trivia

  • The Savvy was one of two models (the other being the Proton Gen-2) that MG Rover was looking to rebadge when it entered talks with Proton's parent company in the 2005. Even though the Savvy was still at the design and testing stage, both Auto Express and Autocar published spy shots of the car with accompanying Rover versions that were digitally recreated.
  • The reverse gear for the manual transmission model is placed at the top left which is the position of normal 1st gear position for conventional manual transmission cars.
  • Proton Gen-2, Savvy, Satria Neo, Waja, and Waja Chancellor's signal switch is placed at the left-hand side, unlike previous models like Saga, Wira and Perdana where the signal switch is placed at the right-hand side.
  • Malaysian Idol 2 winner Daniel Lee is the ambassador for the AMT model.
  • Proton Savvy is now rated as the most fuel-efficient car in Malaysia as verified by Malaysian Book of Records during an on-road test by Proton with the average fuel consumption of about 24 km/L (or about RM0.08/km of fuel), though Proton originally claimed that the average fuel economy was about 18 km/L.
  • Proton Savvy has won an award from the Cars, Bikes & Trucks of the New Straits Times/AmBank Group 2006 Car of the Year Awards in the Supermini category.
