Prothesis

Prothesis may mean one of the following:
- Prothesis (liturgy) is part of the Divine Liturgy of the Eastern Orthodox Church. Also the chapel within the sanctuary where this part of the service takes place.
The term prothesis is sometimes used for prosthesis:
- a prosthesis (linguistics) is an addition of phoneme or syllabe at the beginning of word.
- a prosthetic group (chemistry) is a nonprotein component of a conjugated protein.
The laying out of a dead body for mourners to grieve.
