| Protecovasaurus lucasi |
Protecovasaurus was thought to be a genus of dinosaur (a basal ornithischian) from the Late Triassic. However it is now believed to have been a non-dinosaurian archosaur (Irmis et al., 2006). Protecovasaurus lived in what is now the southwestern United States. The type species, Protecovasaurus lucasi, was formally described by Andrew B. Heckert in 2004.
Its name, Protecovasaurus is comprised of three parts, all of which mean together "Before Tecovas lizard". Tecovas was the formation the holotype specimen was found in.
