Prosthetist

As defined by The Board for Orthotist/Prosthetist Certification or The American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics, Inc. a Prosthetist is a person who measures, designs, fabricates, fits, or services a prosthesis or prostheses (plural) as prescribed by a licensed physician, and who assists in the formulation of the prosthesis prescription for the replacement of external parts of the human body lost due to amputation or congenital deformities or absences.

A Certified Prosthetist or BOCP or CP is a Prosthetist who has passed the certification standards of the Board for Orthotist/Prosthetist Certification or The American Board of Certification in Orthotics & Prosthetics, Inc. and maintains certification through mandatory continuing education program and adherence to the BOC Code of Ethics or the Code of Professional Reponsibility.
