Prospect (punk rock band)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Prospect is an electro punk rock band currently based in Brooklyn, New York.
Prospect was founded in Boca Raton, Florida by Venezuelan immigrant Jonathan Flugel who is the only consistent member. As producer, singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist, Flugel has remained solely responsible for the musical direction of the band. Most of the instrumentation on Prospect's records are handled by Flugel, with the exception of "Rising To Set" (Prelude EP 2006) in which Lauryn Hill's session drummer, Joel Aaron, plays drums.
On stage the line up can vary. Most of the time Flugel performs solo, but he has also been backed up by The Metrosexuals, Joel Aaron (Lauryn Hill), and Rah Crawford (The Good Sun, The Roots).
In 2005, Prospect collaborated with members of 80's rock band Cinderella on a cover of The Animaniacs cartoon theme song for a compilation released on Warner Brothers. Later on that year, Prospect appeared on another compilation put out by indepedent label Torched Records.
In October 2006, the debut EP Prelude was released. Although the full EP is offered as a free download on Prospect's website and MySpace page, enough units and downloads were sold to top charts across the web.
Prospect has performed shows across the country, including a headlining performance at World Cafe Live. Prospect has shared bills with the following notable bands; The Metrosexuals, The Morning After Girls, Zolof The Rock and Roll Destroyer, The Village Green, Spank Rock, Kudu, and Locksley.
