Property Ladder (TV series)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Property Ladder is the name of a television show that airs in the United Kingdom, United States and Australia where first-time property, or real-estate, developers purchase houses (usually in need of repair), renovate them, and attempt to sell them (or flip) for a profit. Their efforts (and frustrations) are the featured bit of the show. An expert property developer steps in to provide advice.

The UK edition of the show is produced by and aired on Channel 4, with repeats frequently shown on various Satellite and Cable channels. Sarah Beeny features as the expert property developer. The show underwent a change in format during 2005 and now features two developments per episode rather than one. This change has lead to the show becoming glorified "car crash TV" since there is insufficient time spent examining the featured developments objectively and as such, the negative aspects tend to be overemphasized.

[edit] US Edition

The U.S. edition is produced by The Learning Channel, with Kirsten Kemp as the expert property developer.

[edit] Trivia

An episode of the US Property Ladder featured Tanya McQueen and her cousin as flippers operating out of Columbus, Texas. That episode was noticed by ABC producers, who invited McQueen to join the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition design team.

The programme is also aired in Australia on The Lifestyle Channel.
