Prometeo (Prometheus) is an opera by Luigi Nono. The Italian libretto was written by Massimo Cacciari. It premiered at the Church of San Lorenzo (Venice) on September 25, 1984. A second version premiered at Teatro alla Scala on September 25, 1985. The opera presents the many different versions of the myth of Prometheus. Nono banned all photography of the production in an attempt to stop what he called "artistic consumerism".
