Project V

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the early U.C. 70's, after witnessing the success that the Principality of Zeon had with the first Mobile Suits (See MS-05B ZAKU) the Earth Federations instituted a top-secret military project, code named Project V. Using similar technology captured by agents within Zeon, the Federation began to produce a series of more powerful Mobile Suits.

Each of these mobile suits, although all prototypes, saw action, and after seeing the success, created several mass produced versions of each mobile suit.

[edit] Principal Differences

The main differences of the prototype models from their mass-produced counterparts are many- First, was the high price for beam-weaponry. It's very expensive, so many mobile suits are equipped with cheaper conventional arms, such as cannons and machine guns. Second, was the deletion of the principal OS, or computer of the Mobile Suit. The cheaper computers were not as advanced as the originals, thus the mobile suit lacked many capabilities that their prototypes had. Third, was the elimination of the CoreBooster system. Each of the prototypes had the ability to eject mini fighters, and to have these small fighters completely integrated with the frame of the mobile suit. This was a type of escape system, lacked by all the mass produced types.
