Project SuperStar (Simplified Chinese: 绝对 SuperStar) is Malaysia's version of Singapore's successful talent-search show, Project Superstar. Franchising rights to the programme was bought by Malaysia's 8TV[1] and the station begun auditions and aired the first edition of the programme from December 2005 to end-April 2006.

As with the Singaporean version, finalists are split into male and female categories of 12 contestants each.

There were 24 finalists - 12 were male and 12 were female. The female winner was the 24-year-old Desiree Tan, 陈 诗 莉 (born in 1982), and the male winner was Johnson Wee Chun Yen, 黄 俊 源, aged 21 (born in 1984).

Johnson's highest educational level was SPM while Desiree's highest educational level was a BA (Honors) Degree in Marketing.

The ultimate winner, or Project Superstar, was Johnson Wee. The finale was held in April 2006.

The second edition of Project SuperStar kicked off from 2006 October 14 with auditions in Johor Bahru, Penang, Sarawak and Kuala Lumpur.[2]


The 24 newly minted superstars have been announced on 12 January 2007

The show will be broadcast in 3rd February 2007, Finishing might be early May
