Project Gotham Racing series

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Project Gotham Racing (initialised PGR) is a franchise of racing video games developed by Bizarre Creations and is published by Microsoft. This series is exclusive to the Xbox and Xbox 360 consoles only. This series of racing games consists of Project Gotham Racing, Project Gotham Racing 2, Project Gotham Racing 3, and Project Gotham Racing 4 (under development). They were released in their respective orders.

The PGR series have a system called Kudos points. These are given for performing stunts with the vehicle (such as power sliding, overtaking another driver, two wheels, etc). The longer you can keep it up, the more points you receive. Colliding with the guard rails and other surroundings will cost you to lose points.

Both PGR2 and PGR3 support gameplay via Xbox Live.

Each cover of the Project Gotham Racing has featured a Ferrari on it, starting from the F50 (PGR) to the Enzo (PGR2) and F430 (PGR3). PGR4 does not have a cover yet, but they have used the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano to promote their game.

The PGR series is the successor to Bizzare Creation's Dreamcast game Metropolis Street Racer, as evidenced by the similarities and the recycled content between the first Project Gotham Racing and Metropolis Street Racer.
