Pro Tour Qualifier
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Pro Tour Qualifier (PTQ) is a Magic: The Gathering tournament in which the winner receives an invitation to participate in the next Pro Tour. Many of these tournaments are held around the world prior to the specific Pro Tour to which they offer invitations. Most PTQs award an invitation only to the winner of the tournament, but some (mostly the larger tournaments) may award invitations to the top two finishers.
In 2006, Wizards of the Coast changed its policy on these invitations to include a travel award for the winner of a PTQ. This award is usually in the form of a round trip airline ticket, though minors will instead receive a "Cash Equivalent Prize" if they show up to play at the Pro Tour to which they were invited.[1]
