Thanks for taking the time to comment in my RFA. Maybe you could explain in a bit more detail what you mean by "it seems too soon". I would appreciate any feedback. - Haukur Þorgeirsson 20:42, 27 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Smile, dear Private!

I'm so sorry it took me a short while to get back to you, my dear Private. It's great news that you've returned to us... and better than ever, I hope! Sometimes, we all need a short break to take a deep breath, gather our strengths back, and face back the daily struggle with renewed optimism and energy. I'm sure the experience has been for the better, and although we have missed you in the meantime, if your temporary absence has served to keep you with us for a long time, then I'm glad we paid the price. Welcome back, dear Private! Warmest hugs, and please, don't leave again! Shauri smile! 02:45, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

The Jim Gordan image you marked as "promotional". Unless Jim is product, it isn't promomtional. Also you failed to mention the source. I have marked it as no source which means it may be deleted without further notice seven days from now. Zeimusu | Talk page 15:57, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] RfA voting

I must say I don't get your vote on Wackymacs' RFA. He uses edit summaries about 60% of the time, therefore... he'll abuse the tools? I understand not lending your support for those, but really, is opposing him necessary? I'm not sending this message to Xoloz as his opposition makes a lot more sense, but edit summary percentage seems to have absolutely no connection to being an admin, other than it may be understandable that you want admins to be of the highest quality, but then again, we really need as many as we can get, provided they don't abuse them, and as far as I know, sub-70 edit summaries doesn't indicate abuse. Redwolf24 (talk) 04:59, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

  • I'm sorry to hear you say that I am just a Joe Somebody and not deserving, I'm also sorry to read that you find Wikipedia an unimportant project. You cannot go around Wikipedia being rude to people you don't know, I find your comments very rude and inconsiderate, you cannot call someone you don't know a Joe Somebody and not deserving. I'm also curious as to why you are on Wikipedia at all if you think it is an unimportant project in the first place. — Wackymacs 20:02, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

I will respect your wishes, and say "Good luck", rather than "Please come back". I don't think anybody wants you to leave Wikipedia, and I assure you that there will be many peope who will rejoice if you come back some time and tell us you're fine. But the most important thing is that you must get help. Please, please do that. I hope to see you back, but I hope even more that you'll get the help and treatment that you need. • Hey you, take a look ^ up there. I don't see anybody screwin' around with your head, just folks who give a damn about you. Stay or leave for a while or whatever, so long as you know that we care. Care enough to challenge your intellect and not just humor you or blow you off. I'd be really pissed if I saw you being marginalized but that's not what I see going on. [edit] Rehab and RfA

Dear Private Butcher. I'm very pleased to read on your user page that you're going to rehab. You're doing the right thing, and I really hope it works out well. I wanted to tell you also that it's likely I'll have an RfA some time soon. I know that you still vote in them, and I know from comments you've made there that you have certain standards about how many edits a wikipedian should have over a certain period. I want to assure you that I will not resent it in the least if you oppose my nomination. I thought I should tell you that, as we have sent each other messages in the past, and I wouldn't like you to feel in any way uncomfortable about it. Anyway, that's a less important issue – what really matters is that you must do what you can to get well. And remember – your wiki-friends will be thinking of you. Ann Heneghan (talk) 18:48, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

Hello again. Someone is going to nominate me, I think. And do keep us updated on how you're getting on. I'll be keeping an eye on your userpage. By the way, Gordon has a job now, and is too busy to edit Wikipedia very much. Good luck. Ann Heneghan (talk) 19:39, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

He just probably needs quite a bit of time to learn. I can forsee a third or 4th RfA getting shot down (for the next few weeks at least), though. IT's good that you have faith in him. NSLE (讨论+extra) 04:09, 24 November 2005 (UTC)
Umm no. I wouldn't repost a 3rd RfA so soon. The 2nd RfA was not listed and was to be saved for a later date. I did state in the 2nd RfA that I would wait a month if it was unsuccessful. EddieSegoura 04:26, 24 November 2005 (UTC)
Eddie, your second RfA WAS unsuccessful, an admin closed it, no more votes are being accepted to it. Private Butcher, that's cool that you're onto NS now. Good luck ;) NSLE (讨论+extra) 04:27, 24 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Your comments on Me signing up to be an Admin User

Hiya, Quentin (Private Butcher) I understand You posted a comment on My second attempt to sign up for Administrator priviledges. While I clearly created the page. I did not intend to have people vote so soon. I did leave My name off the list so I could simply add My name when I was ready to try again. I hope this clears up the confusion. EddieSegoura 04:22, 24 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for the welcome - question

Hi Quentin,

Thanks for the welcome. I actually have a question -- the pages I'm contributing to / stubbing out involve bicycle paths in the Los Angeles area where some of the content is from peoples' personal experiences riding along those paths. I'm keeping a careful eye toward neutral POV as I edit (though sometimes the initial raw posts are not neutral, I've been keeping an eye on revising that as quickly as I can), but the nature of the data being posted is first-hand experience.

Does this go against the "no original sources" pillar? It seems like it goes against the letter of it, but in spirit we're essentially creating snapshots of bicycle paths, the nature of which is much like original photographs or maps. We're not posting theories or opinions (more correctly, we're weeding those out as quickly as we can), and all of the information certainly fits the verifiability test.

Please advise ... I'd appreciate your thoughts.

Regards,

Tom guyette 06:37, 24 November 2005 (UTC)

Hello again, Private Butcher. I just want to thank you for your support – indeed, for being the first support vote – on my RfA. As I said earlier, I wouldn't have minded at all if you had opposed me, because I know that you have certain standards about how much time an admin should give to Wikipedia, and I don't think I meet those standards. Even more importantly, I want to say that I hope you're well and that you're recovering nicely. I'm sorry you've had so much pain in your life, and hope that some good times are in store for you.
