This article notes that Walker is no longer heard of after the episode "Things that Bump in the Night." However, at the beginning of the next episode ("The Recruit" I believe), Mainwaring is shown reading a letter from Walker in front of the assembled platoon to explain his absence. Walker has gone off to 'do a deal.' The note is written in lively and funny cockney (informing Mainwaring that he [walker] might have to sweeten the deal by 'comming across with a monkey'). I remember this scene so well because it is rather moving. James Beck has only recently died and of course everyone is very sad. You can even notice Clive Dunn fighting to stay 'in character' smiling, fighting off very deep sorrow. After this note reading, Walker does vanish forever and I do believe he's never heard from again. Yanqui9 01:33, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
