Priyanath plays the Sitar in the Maihar SENHI Binka Gharana tradition. His great grandfather, His Holliness Sitaram Das Omkarnath Dev Ji, is one of India's most famous spiritual people (www.streamsofnectar.com).
He started his training in Sitar in his childhood under the able guidance of Bijoya Chattopadhyay and then under Sitar player Indranil Bhattacharya.
The music in the form of ragas, the speed, rhythmic variations are the major characteristics of his performance.
His most recent project as composer on The Works Of Tagore released in House of Lords in September 2005. [1]

As a Sitarist, he started his career abroad at the age of eleven . He is the only indian performer who was associated with Oxford University UK as visiting performer . He has performed all over the world including UK, Germany, Italy, Holland, Belgium, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, USA, Canada, Singapore, Malyasia, Bangladesh, Newzeland etc. He has performed in House of Commons, Royal Court Of Justice (In The Invitation of Lord Chancellor in 2004) , Neheru Center London and in numerous stages for lots of time.
He is a holder of a Postgraduate Degree in Sociology.
He is also the Founder Chairman of Eternal Records, one of the leading music copmanies of India . Eternal records produces the foremost and one of the leading classical programme of India JALSAGHAR For 250 episodes . Except that it has some very famous brand numbers like "The Mid Summer Nights Dream"of Bikram Ghosh , "Best Of Purna Das Baul",Pt. Tarun Bhattacharya's " Music For Life","Works Of Tagore"by Shabana Azmi, Farookh Seikh, sabyasachi Chakrovarty , Soumitra Chattopadhyay , Anup Jalota and lots more.
