Prix Kergorlay

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Prix Kergorlay is a Group 2 flat horse race in France for three-year-old and above thoroughbreds run over a distance of 3,000 metres (approximately 1 mile 7 furlongs) at Deauville Racecourse in August.

It was first run in 1864 as the Prix de la Société d'Encouragement, and was re-named in 1875 as the Prix de Longchamps. In 1911 the race was given the title Prix Florian de Kergorlay in honour of Florian de Kergorlay, a leading figure in French racing who died the previous year. The name of the race was shortened to its present title in 1929.
