[edit] Oscars

As part of a move to help develop youth and the division Priory Green introduced an Oscars style evening. At this evening Cadets which were previously nominated into categories were crowned winners of certain categories. The Oscars categories were fun categories. At the end of the night the Divisional Cadet of the Year would be announced.

[edit] 1st annual Priory Green Oscars

In 2005 the Oscars evening did not have any theme as it was the first event of the kind and was planned to find out what the reaction would be of members and their families. The evening was "Smart Dress" which was decided on by the cadet members. The oscar style awards were mainly awarded to Cadet members with an additional 2 going to adult members for Fundraising and an Outstanding Contribution to Duties. The evening was help on Thursday 1st December 2005 at Priory Green Community Centre, Pendeford. With an absolutely amazing response and feedback from members and parents alike the evening was to be run again in 2006.

[edit] 2nd annual Priory Green Oscars

For 2006 an alternative approach was taken to the event. This time it was going to be themed. Feedback given by members and their guests in 2005 was used to change the way the event would run. The Oscars categories were expanded to include Woodland Badgers. More serious awards were give out to all age groups. The theme was "A Night at the movies" where people were invited to come dressed as a character from a film or their favourite film star. Following on from a huge increase in members, during the summer of 2006 the date and venue was changed to cater for the influx. The event was moved to Fordhouses Cricket & Social Club and to Friday 1 December 2006. There was however a twist that remained a secret until the night. It would either be a success or a flop, but was a risk Andrew Anthony took on the night. The audience were invited to participate in a fancy dress parade. The would be awards for Best Dressed Badger, Cadet, Adult and Non-Member which would be voted for while the show was taking place. The evening had a far bigger response than 2005 due to the influx in members. Attendance on the door totalled 106 people. There was also live music from Blessed Gerald who are an up and coming group based in Pendeford.

[edit] Divisional Cadet of the Year (DCOTY)

Prioy Green Divisional Cadet of the Year has formed part of the divisional rewards process since 2001. The decision process is not taken very lightly and it is thought about long and hard by all the youth leaders. The decision takes into consideration the contributions the person has made to the division along with other reasons.
