From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Principal Teacher (PT), in Scotland is the head of a particular department within a school. For example, Mr Alan Smith may be the Principal Teacher of English. This means he is incharge of running the department and ensuring it is performing to school standard.
A PT is not a headmaster and is not responsible for running a school.
Recently, most Scotish schools have been replacing PTs with Curriculum Leaders who essential carry out the same job.
