Princess Shruti or Sruti (October 15, 1976 - June 1, 2001) was the youngest daughter of King Birendra and Queen Aiswarya of Nepal and sister of Crown Prince Dipendra and Prince Nirajan. Princess Shruti studied at St. Mary's Convent in Nepal and later at Mayo Girls College in Ajmer, India. She completed her Bachelors degree at Padma Kanya Campus in Nepal.
She was married to Gorakh Shamsher Rana and had two children. Princess Shruti contributed to art and Nepali Literature. She was renowned for her artwork.
She along with her mother, father and brother were killed by Dipendra following a family dispute over marriage plans. She died in the hospital after the shooting. However Many Nepalese suspect that Gyanendra was the mastermind behind the royal palace massacre on 1 June 2001. Mejor nepalese political parties are demanding for independent invistagation for this Royal masaccare.
