[edit] Early life

Princess Charlotte was born on 21 March 1819 in Hannover. Her father was The Prince William, Duke of Clarence, the third eldest son of King George III and Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Her mother was HRH The Duchess of Clarence (nee Princess Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen), the daughter of George I, the Duke of Saxe-Meiningen. At the time of her birth she was fourth in the line of succession to the British throne.

[edit] Later life

Princess Charlotte died soon after her birth. Her mother, the Duchess of Clarence, had several difficult pregnancies, making it difficult for the Duke and Duchess to produce any more children. However, another child, Princess Elizabeth of Clarence was born in 1820, although she too did not survive infancy and died in 1821.
