[edit] Education and Youth

Prince Jean was educated in Luxembourg, Switzerland and France, where he obtained his baccalaureate. He then undertook a language course in England.

In 1977, Prince Jean began his military officer training at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, England. He was made a captain of the Luxembourg Army in 1979. He later studied at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.

[edit] Marriage and Family

On 27 May 1987, Prince Jean married Hélène Vestur, now a judge, in Paris. His wife and children bore the title "Count(ess) of Nassau", until raised to the style and title of ""HRH Prince(ss) of Nassau". The prince and princess are now divorced, having had four children together:

On 24 November 2004, Prince Jean's wife and children were granted the style and title "HRH Prince(ss) of Nassau". Subsequently, the prince and princess were divorced.

Prince Jean works in the water industry for Degremont, a subsidiary of Suez. It is unclear what his exact role is; his former wife and children presumably still live in Paris.
