Young Crown Prince Hridayendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev (born 30 July 2002) is the only son of Crown Prince Paras and Crown Princess Himani, he is a grandson of King Gyanendra. Following his birth he was given the title of Young Crown Prince being the eldest son of the heir apparent.[1]

He was second in the line of succession to the Nepalese Throne from his birth and one day expected to become King of Nepal until July 2006 when the Nepalese government changed the succession law to equal primogeniture[2] meaning his older sister Princess Purnika of Nepal becomes second in the line of succession and also potentially future Queen providing the monarchy in Nepal is not abolished.

In February 2007 there was speculation in Nepal that Prince Hridayendra's father and grandfather would make way for him to take the throne but so far this has come to nothing.[3]
