Title Prince of Belgium
Parents Philippe, Duke of Brabant and Princess Mathilde of Belgium

Prince Gabriel of Belgium (born Gabriel Baudouin Charles Marie (French) or Gabriël Boudewijn Karel Maria (Dutch) August 20, 2003) is the second child and eldest son of Prince Philippe of Belgium, Duke of Brabant, the heir apparent to the throne of Belgium, and his wife, the former Jonkvrouwe Mathilde d'Udekem d'Acoz. His first name was chosen, his parents said, because of its symbolism, being prominent in the Christian, Muslim, and Jewish religions. He is a grandson of Albert II, King of the Belgians.

He was born August 20, 2003, in Anderlecht, near Brussels. Twelve years before, a new act of succession was put into effect which created the possibility for his sister, Princess Elisabeth, to become Queen of the Belgians. Therefore it seems very unlikely that he will one day become King of the Belgians. In addition to his elder sister Elisabeth, Gabriel also has a younger brother, Prince Emmanuel.

Belgian Royal Family

His godparents are Baroness Hans-Ulrich von Freyberg (née Maria Christina Rossi di Montelera) and his maternal uncle Count Charles-Henri d'Udekem d'Acoz.
