Primula scotica Hook. |
Primula scotica, common name Bird's eye primrose is a species of primrose endemic to the north coast of Scotland, including Caithness and Orkney. It is closely related to the arctic species Primula stricta and Primula scandinavica.
It is easliy distinguished from other Primula growing in similar localities because of its bluish purple flowers. It flowers in May and often has a second flowering in July. On Orkney it is commonly seen near Yesnaby on the sea cliffs.
