Primer Banco del Istmo (trading as Banistmo) is the largest bank in Panama and Central america, it is part of the HSBC Group following its' parent Grupo Banistmo's acquisition in November 2006.
Banistmo offers a full range of personal, commercial and investment banking services through 42 branches. The Banistmo group also owns the country's largest insurance company, Compania Nacional de Seguros ('Conase').
