"Pretty Little Ditty" is a song by the Red Hot Chili Peppers from their 1989 album Mother's Milk. The song first came about in the original jam sessions between John Frusciante, Flea and D.H. Peligro, prior to John joining the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It is, unlike nearly every other song in the Red Hot Chili Peppers catalogue, entirely instrumental. It also contains no refrain, rather having three parts. Additionally, the song features Flea playing both bass and trumpet. The bass line, at points, has elements of slap and is quite complex. A part of this song was sampled by Crazy Town for their 2001 hit "Butterfly". The original version of Pretty Little Ditty runs 3:07 and is a rarity.
