Preston Hollow is an established prestigious neighborhood in north Dallas, Texas (USA). Originally incorporated as a town in 1939, residents voted to join with the city of Dallas in 1945. Today the neighborhood is very broadly defined as land to the north of Northwest Highway ( SH Loop 12), south of I-635, east of Midway Road and west of North Central Expressway ( US 75).[citation needed] The area north of Northwest Highway, south of Royal Lane, east of Midway Road and west of Hillcrest Road is seen as the most defining portion of the neighborhood.
Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, presidential candidate billionaire Ross Perot, Stream Energy Chairman Rob Snyder, billionaire investors Harold Simmons and Boone Pickens, Dallas Stars and Texas Rangers owner Tom Hicks, and current city Mayor Laura Miller and her husband/retired Texas legislator Steven Wolens live in this neighborhood. Before his term as the Governor of Texas, George W. Bush and his family also resided in Preston Hollow. Houses in Preston Hollow are among the most expensive in the state and have continued to increase in value in recent years. Currently houses range from US$200,000 to over $10,000,000.
The most expensive estate in Preston Hollow, a US$45 million, 43,000 square feet (4,000 m²) mansion, caught fire while still under construction. The faux French chateau that burned was planned as palatial digs for a Dallas telecom tycoon. The original owner combined several lots for what would be the biggest house in Dallas.

[edit] Preston Hollow in the news
In 2006, Preston Hollow Elementary School achieved notoriety for violating the 1952 Supreme Court Brown v. Board of Education decision. Judge Sam Lindsay ruled that the school's practice of creating white-only classes was not legal. Defense noted that not a single whites-only class existed in the school, and that placement was based on test scores [1].
