President Bennett (Tom Clancy novels)

President Bennett was a character in the film Clear and Present Danger (film). He was President of the United States of America. Bennett was a close friend of a man who was killed by members of a drug cartel. Bennett was very angry about this. He ordered a new policy against the Colombian Drug Cartel and attempted to rid America of drugs. He was able to secure some money from freezing the drug cartel's assets. Bennett sent Jack Ryan and the FBI Director Emile Jacobs to Colombia to negotiate with the Colombian Attorney General about who would get what share of the money. The Drug Cartel's assassinated Jacobs and several other security officers. He gave NSA James Cutter authorisation to take out the Cartels. There was a lot of carnage in the crisis. Bennett attempted to silence Ryan but he testified at a special session of Congress. Bennett threw his re-election campaign.
