Presbyterian Hospital is a tertiary care facility located in Charlotte, NC. with 593 licensed beds, it is the city's second largest hospital after the regional referral center, Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) and is the location of the third busiest emergency department in Mecklenburg County, after CMC and Carolinas Medical Center-University. The hospital has a rich history dating back to the turn of the 20th century as it started as a 20 bed hospital in uptown Charlotte. In 1918 Presbyterian hospital moved to its current location on Hawthorne Lane in Charlotte's beautiful Elizabeth neighborhood. Today, Presbyterian operates two community hospitals in Matthews, NC and Huntersville, NC. It is an affiliate of Winston-Salem, NC based Novant Health.
