The Prefecture for the Economic Affairs of the Holy See is an Office of the Roman Curia that manages the financial investments and budget of Vatican City and the Roman Catholic Church, erected August 15, 1957.
In 1967, Pope Paul VI combined the Special Administration of the Holy See and the Administration of the Assets of the Holy See into one office, Administration of the Patrimony of the Holy See, under the control of the Prefecture for the Economic Affairs of the Holy See.[1]
The Vatican Bank is the only papal financial institution not overseen by the Prefecture.[2]
