- The info is from his Rajya Sabha bio. I think he did his Bachelors in Physics, then as he got interested in politics and joined the RSS, he did another one in journalism and followed it up with a post grad in Political journalism. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ravikiran r (talk • contribs).
- I thought he was with the RSS since childhood - need to check!!!Pizzadeliveryboy 08:04, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Citation needed moved
There is a citation for the fact that he was in jail throughout the emergency. It is a reasonable conjecture that he was put there for agitating against it, but citation is nonetheless needed for the fact, because IIRC, RSS members were all rounded up and put in jail, so he could have landed up there that way too. — Ravikiran 07:29, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] DNA link
This DNA link [1] says that he was co-opted into the BJP in 1978 but in 78, neither the BJP nor the Jan Sangh existed. BJP was formed only in 1980. We on Wikipedia should not emulate the accuracy that Indian newspapers are so famous for, so please be careful before adding the fact. — Ravikiran 07:50, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

- The whole article uses so many weasel terms. They should be avoided. Can you help me out with that Ravikiran? --Andy123(talk) 11:00, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

- A simple google search [2] turns up at least 3 good sources that refer to the controversy about Mahajan and Reliance infocomm. I'll write it up in the "Government" section later today (unless you or someone else beats me to it, of course.) All the other weasel terms can be similarly sourced. I'll keep doing research. — Ravikiran 11:20, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Milestone: Good Article Nomination
This section is to list what needs to be done before this qualifies as a good article. Feel free to add to this list or pick items from this list and get it done. Strike out the points once it is done. —Ravikiran 19:26, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
- More details on his building the SS-BJP alliance. - to be cited
The Shivani Bhatnagar incident. His role in the victories of 2003 and the defeat of 2004.- His participation in the BJP power struggle
[edit] "Current"-ness of article
The shooting incident is no longer current news. His death should also move out of that category after the cremation. If necessary, keep the Pravin murder charge and trial (within contextual limits) as current events in this article. Pizzadeliveryboy 15:29, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Why
Why would Indians kill each other if they are Budhist?I thought Budhist is all about non-violence like GandiDzoni 23:48, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
"Self Defence". 212.111.36.70 08:21, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
Its hardly self-defence when they throw bombs at innocent people.Dzoni 10:59, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
- Umm...in case you didn't know, india is majority hindu, not buddhist. Gandhi was an exemplary individual, unfortunately, not everyone can be like him. Lesliestng 16:48, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
I knew that,but HINDUS ARE BUDHISTS TOO!!!Dzoni 11:27, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Education
Sorry for mentioning this here. I couldn't edit the education section on this page. The official Rajya Sabha bio contains the bio submitted by Mahajan when he was in office. So we must assume it must be closest to accuracy.
Here is his education from the bio -
B.Sc. (Physics), M.A.(Political Science), B.A.(Journalism) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Coolsulphur (talk • contribs).
- Yes, and I think that it is now in line with what is here. Thanks for checking. — Ravikiran 06:27, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Number of times date of death is mentioned
I've been reverting the date and time of his death at the end of the introductory paragraph for stylistic reasons. His date of death is mentioned three times' elsewhere in the article. Mentioning it once again would be overkill, if you will forgive the pun. — Ravikiran 05:48, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
In encyclopediac articles like this, precise information should be given upfront. The date and time of his demise is somewhere in the last part of the article, leaving many readers who may just want to read the summary fumbling with their calendars. I feel that that the date and time should be there at the beginning as well. 202.162.56.29 20:53, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
- Not really. The date of his death is right there in the first line where it says (October 30, 1949 – May 3, 2006) . The lead paragraph is supposed to summarise the most important aspects of his life. I know that right now the exact time of his death is quite high up on people's minds, because it was the end of a 12 day long vigil when hopes went up and down every other day. But I don't think 10 years from now, people are going to care so much about the exact time of his death. — Ravikiran 05:13, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

- Point noted and accepted. Thanks for the clarification. Have left the same message on your user talk page as well. Don't think you need to respond to it. Kudos to you for the good article.Timelessness 15:23, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
