From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The praying mantis hook is the signature hand posture of Northern Praying Mantis style martial arts.

[edit] Purpose

It is primarily used in seizing the opponent's arm in order to divert their attack or to draw them closer in order to carry out an attack. It can also be used to pluck an opponent's fist out of the air.

[edit] Position

The middle and index fingers are held out while the ring and little finger curl underneath.
