Prasonisi

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Prasonisi cape is a part of Rhodes island. It is located 92 km from Rhodes town; 40 Km from Lindos, in southern-west part of Rhodes island.

Prasonisi is Greek for green island. During the summer when water levels are low, this island is a pensinsula attached to Rhodes. During the winter when water levels are high, Prasonisi becomes an island. The southern-most tip of Prasonisi contains a lighthouse. The closest Greek village is Kattavia, however there is a purpose-built settlement on at Prasonisi that contains motels, convenience stores, restaurants, and windsurf rentals. Near Prasonisi is Vroulia, an ancient settlement that contains an old mosaic tiled floor.

[edit] Watersports - Windsurf & Kitesurf

Rhodes & especially Prasonisi is a good place for windsurf & kitesurf. From one side of the cape there is the Aegean Sea with good waves and views for advanced surfers. From another side - there is the Mediterranean Sea with flat water which is a great for a beginner. It's a real surfers' paradise with sun, strong wind and great island lifestyle.

Best time to come is July-August.

There are 3 surf stations there that offer boards and kites rental, lessons, and also help with accommodation, transfer etc. Stations are:

1) Pro-center of Christof Kirschner

2) Wind4Fun Rodos

3) Prasonisi Center
