Practicalism is an informal term for ideologies that consider doctrines of "practicality," or "present feasibility" as superior to those of idealized concepts or virtues.

Practicalism is also based on taking things as they come, and taking the most practical route out of a situation. A practicalist will only do things that have a purpose and will do these things in order to benefit either them or some other.

Practicalism may refer a system of government where all major policy decisions are voted upon directly by the people. When a policy has been decided to be enacted by the populous all the experts in the field concerning the policy meet and decided how to best carry out the idea.
